I have a weight control success story I'd like to place in the Brag Board

"The holidays are such a difficult time for me when it comes to overeating!  It seems like every time I turn around there's another event or party to attend - most of them supplying a bevy of high-calorie foods.  I've found that eating a small snack has really helped curb my hunger so that once I get to a party, I'm not as tempted to overindulge.  Keeping a low-calorie beverage in my hand also works wonders.  In fact, I've actually managed to lose weight since Thanksgiving just by following simple tips such as these!"
Deanna, El Paso, TX

Now that it's almost bathing suit I've finally decided to drop those last few pounds. Since January 2nd, I have managed to lose more than 20 pounds! My best tip is to stay hydrated! I often think that I'm hungry so I make myself have an eight-ounce glass of water before reaching for a snack. Many times I find that I was simply thirsty and didn't really need the extra calories.

Well I have been on this program for 15 days and have now lost my first 5 pounds. I feel GREAT and can't wait to get the rest off. But I keep in mind it did not come on fast it is not going off fast either. By December I hope to see the healtier me.
Teresa

This time of year is especially hard for me due to all of the food around. First Thanksgiving, then Christmas and then New Year's. It's so hard not to gain weight during this time of year! I'm hoping to use simple substitutions in my recipes and use lower-calorie products to reduce the caloric content of my meals. Wish me luck!
Robin, Hendersonville, NC

My name is Jane and I've always struggled with my weight. I really just love food! With the help of CaloriesCount.com, I've learned to embrace my love for food but do so with lower-calorie options and portion control. Apparently a portion does not consistent of a large pizza! This website has helped me lose 10 pounds and I've successfully maintained my weight loss for 2 years now. Go me!!!

I am VERY Very over weight... now I am just ... very overweight. I have lost 90 pounds since January of this year ( 2006) ... believe it or not. I eat healthy food ( chkn, fish, lean protien, veggies, fruit etc) and just watch my calories ( I do not count carbs, fat, sugar, etc) and I work out 5-6 days a week for about an hour. I always wanted a quick fix--- and I have realized that doing what I am supposed to be doing, really works ( can you believe it?) I hope to hit my goal by next spring/summer.
**For those lacking in motivation.. how I started helped. When I first started I told myself that it takes 21 days to create or change a habit. So since I wanted to become healthier, I would eat and be healthy , no exceptions for 21 days. At that time i would take a day or two break and reflect back > I had lost 15 pounds and felt so good. I restarted another 21 days.. .and thus the cycle started. I have not been perfect... but no one is. I have learned to make mistakes , have a bad meal and move on.. no biggie. But I try to make healtier choices.
** Also once exercising became a habit.. if I missed more than one day I felt like my day was not complete. .. I now LIKE to exercise and be active
** I keep a dry erase board that is a monthly calender where I write my total daily calorie intake down and what exercise I did that day. This ensures I can see what I have done and need to do for that week/month to stay in line-- I also keep dry erase postit pads that are magnets ( you can get at office stores or discount stores) and write goals/motivational saying/etc on them and keep them attached to mirrors... it helps.

I'm 21 and I have two kids. I gained over 60lbs with my 1st pregnancy and 20 with my second. I joined caloriescount.com a little over a week ago, and I've lost 5lbs already by watching what I eat and running for 30min every day. My goal is to go back to my pre-pregnancy weight of 123lbs. I hope that caloriescount.com will continue to help me reach my goal!

Losing weight is really one of the hardest thing's I've ever done. I wasn't sure I could do it but I've finally reached my goal weight of 135 pounds!!! It's taken me over 2 years to lose the 30+ pounds I was carrying but I finally made it!
Jenna, Dallas, TX

This time of year is always difficult because having two active kids, I'm at the pool in a bathing suit all day! I've managed to control my cravings for sugary foods and have instead switched to munching on fruits and veggies. The produce is so fresh this time of year that it's easy! I've lost five pounds in two weeks and hope to lose another two pounds this week. Stay strong everybody!
James, Atlanta, GA

I'm feeling so great today! I weighed in this morning and I lost 2 pounds this week! CaloriesCount.com is helping me become more active and pay attention to the foods I put into my mouth. It's all about accountability!

Hello! I just had a baby in December and I never thought I'd get the weight off. Throughout my pregnancy I gained 55 pounds and felt so sluggish all the time. Through CaloriesCount, I've managed to lose a lot of the weight and have never looked better. My stomach is flat and my old clothes fit again. This program is so sensible and easy to follow.

I tried many other fad diets before realizing that I need to make some major changes in my lifestyle. I was diagnosed with high cholesterol and finally decided to get in control once and for all. Now I've lost my first ten pounds and I could never return to my former ways!
Matt, Cincinnati, OH

This weight loss process hasn't been easy but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. I lost three pounds this week and two more last week - that's five pounds total! Keep up the good work everybody!

I joined CaloriesCount in January and I can't believe it but I've lost 9 pounds! This comes from the girl who loves chocolate bars and potato chips. I've really learned that the key to losing weight is about moderation - not cutting things out.
Alexis, San Francisco, CA

During college, I gained about 30 pounds and was desperate to lose the weight after I graduated. Using the recipes and meal plans, I've been able to lose 30+ pounds and am in better shape than I've ever been before.
Marsha, Louisville, KY

I lost my first 10 lbs!! I joined 1/1/06. This website is so motivating and makes losing weight fun! Be completely honest about entering all that you eat, it will help you to do better the next day if you binge.

I just got back from the mall and for the first time in my life, I'm a size 12! I honestly don't even remember being that small ever. CaloriesCount is really teaching me how to control my urges for junk food and just eat a small amount at a time.
Jaime, Dallas, TX

After trying numerous fad diets I finally decided to lose the weight for good and joined CaloriesCount.com. Thanks to this web site I have managed to lose 10 pounds!

Since Oct of 2004 I made a vow to become healthier and as of today 05/31/05, I have lost 50 lbs and still would like to lose 25 more. Caloriescount.com has been a wonderful tool for me. The calculations are right on when figuring the proper calorie intake vs. exercise output. I have never struck up a conversation with anyone for support (guess I'm kinda shy ) but have read every posting and have heeded alot of advise from others on the road to healthy weight loss. I still am amazed that I have actually lost 50 lbs, its been a very fun, rewarding process and CaloriesCount.com has been a big part of my success.

Hello, all!! I just want to say that I am very proud of myself. I had just had a baby boy in August 2004, and had gained about 35 pounds. My wieght went up to 170. Now I am back on track, THANKS TO CALORIE COUNT. I am back at my old 135, and I feel great. What helped me to my sucess....KEEP MOVING!!! I walked at every chance that I could. I would hold 5lb. handweights in each hand while I walked and would do exercises like punching in the air or arm lifts. This has really helped me to tone my arms. I wish everyone sucess on their weight loss. PEACE, LOVE, and HAPPINESS!

I just wanted to tell my experience with losing belly fat. I just started dieting two weeks ago. I am on a calorie count of 1400 per day and will loose 1/2 pound per week at that level. However, my belly fat is almost all gone!! I had alot of fat buildup under breast and above hips. I am 55 years old, and it just kept going there. So I read about a diet where you eat 3 meals, 3 snacks a day, every three hours, and at least 8 glasses of water. The purpose of this eating schedule is to prevent your body from producing the hormone Cortisol. I decided to give it a try, because they said the first thing you would lose belly fat. Well, it worked!! Most of the belly fat is gone. I still have a ways to go for the weight loss, I want to lose 20 pounds, however the loss of the belly fat has cheered me up and lets me know I am on the right path. If anyone needs to know my diet, let me know and I can direct you to the book. t

Hi, I discovered calories count in mid January when I was starting off my weight loss plan and have since lost 31 lbs - it's small compared to other losses posted here - but to me it's a huge achievement. I've been dieting/ bingeing since my teens and three months of eating in a non-deprivational, yet weight loss promoting way, is major major progress. I am currently 265 pounds and have a long way to go but I am confident that I will get there. My goal is to lose another 42lbs this year - I've got another 9 months to play with! I find the food diary absolutely vital in keeping me on track each day and the exercise calculator has made me see how much I can burn by doing very little. As a result I built my exericse up from five-ten minute walks and now walk 3-4 miles a day. We don't have similar sites in the UK that offer such great support and practical advice (it's usually 'you're fat so don't eat' variety!). Thanks so much for a great resource!

Hello, last year my store had it's own in house weight loss challenge and I lost 62 Lbs. and 5 inches off of my waist. Thanks to my co-workers and friends I was able to do this and I fell sooooo much better now. I found the 2 best things are to set a lot of small realistic goals and, do not consider yourself on a diet but rather this is my lifestyle now. Thanks for reading and remember it can be done, just stick with it.

I lost over 50 pounds between Sep 2003 and April 2004. I still need to lose another 15 pounds so I joined for the motivation and support. Just wanted to tell you all to just stick with it...it will work if you keep on persisting. I've managed to maintain my 50 pound loss for nearly a year now, so I know you can do it too! Remember to drink lots of water and keep moving! Good luck to all of us!

Hi, Just wanted to say, I started being serious yesterday. I have walked and I am watching everything I put in my mouth. I only need the last 20 off, but it might as well be a hundred!! I joined CC on January 1. My ultimate goal is to lose 10% of my weight, however, I broke that down further and set myself an interim goal of 5% at which time I would treat myself to a manicure. Today, I reached the 5% goal, and I will be making my manicure appointment for this weekend.

As of 12 February 2005, I am 10.5 lbs lighter than I was last time I posted on the board! The Online Diary is a great tool for keeping track of what I'm eating and doing to negate those calories. The HD challenge is coming up and I've been encouraging my coworkers to sign up. I just hope I don't plateau around that time! Wish me luck!

I started using CC on on Jan 3, weighing in at 151 pounds. By using the food diary (wow, I didn't realize how much I was really eating until I had to account for it all!), eating healthful foods in sensible portions, and exercising regularly, I now weigh in at 145, just one month later! It's not always easy, but it's always worth it. :) My goal is to lose 5 more pounds, and then it's all about maintaining.

I started in August, 2004. I've "lost" 40 lbs in 2004, and looking to lose another 40 in 2005! We get by with help from our friends (especially at CaloriesCount). ;-)

This is a great website for me! I love all of the support and the food diary is great! It makes me accountable for everything I put in my mouth. I'm even having troubles getting up to my calories for the day! This was my 1st week and I've already lost 6 lbs... I have 55 lbs to go and I can't wait to see what is under all this fat! :)

I work at Home Depot and we're doing this challenge in which CC is part of, and I figure why not, to go along with my new years resolution which was to lose 5 lbs a month. I've been doing good so far, I actually signed on late December, and I'm down 5 lbs. My ultimate goal is 199 but I figure if I'm not there yet I'll just keep doing the 5 lbs a month thing. Wish me luck.

I have finally divorced him....I have finally had the will power to stop visiting my ex...I use to see him 4 times a day..but now no more! I looked straight at him and said good-bye Mr.Break room vending machine. The hold he had on me with his delicious Snickers,Twix, and scrumptous Ho Ho's is no more. The bond between us has been replaced with my new love.... ME. You should do the same. If you have a physically abusive and emotionally dependant relationship with your local snack machine..then get a DIVORCE!

Hello~Just got started on CC January 3,2005 and I am so excited. I am weighing 354 lbs. and after reading many of the testimonials here at CC I have no doubt that it is possible for me to lose the 200+ that I need. What an inspiration to know that there are people out there who have been where I am now and have won the battle. What a great tool the Online Food Diary and the Calculator are. What I need to work on is probably the exercise, but I have no doubt that I will get there. I plan to take this new path in my life one day at a time, and keep in touch with my new supporters on line here at CC. Thank you and Good Luck to everyone that is here on this journey too.

I just wanted to give an update. I started Calories Count in Jan. 2003 and weighed 225 pounds at the time. I now weigh 139 pounds and am happy to report that I have been at this weight since Feb. 2004. This is despite having two knee surgeries this year which has interfered with my usual exercise routine. I attribute this to the great advice through this website and the ability to continue to eat healthy and be accountable for what I consume by using the tools available. Please take hope that even setbacks do not have to result in weight gain or getting discouraged from attempting to remain reaching for your goal of a healthy lifestyle. keep up all of your good work and intentions. You will reach your goal and can mantain the loss with the same determination as you had at the start of your lifestyle changes.
