One Woman’s Quest Becomes a True Leap of “Faith”

Faith K
New Hampshire

Almost two years ago, Faith was a young 27 year-old mother of two, yet at 304 pounds, her health made her feel much older. Faith, who has been dieting since she was 10 years old, knows the ups and downs of dieting frustration. “All my life I have felt very self-conscious about my body. I have never found a healthy way to stay at an appropriate weight.” Weight fluctuation became a lifestyle for Faith. Yet she wanted to have the energy to push her children in their stroller and play with them outside, look and feel younger, and she wanted to do it for herself.

In the midst of a four-month plateau from weight loss, Faith discovered CaloriesCount.com via a Yahoo forum in which someone was discussing the site. “I knew I couldn’t do this alone because it wasn’t working. CaloriesCount.com was so affordable, I had to try.” Since joining CaloriesCount.com six months ago, Faith has lost 50 pounds. This makes a total loss of 135 pounds since beginning her healthy lifestyle journey almost two years ago. Faith began her journey as a size 28, and now fits comfortably into a size 12.

Now this former stress-eater has converted small changes into a new way of life. Although she never thought she could stick with the program, Faith has seen major changes in her body that continue to motivate her. After losing weight, she realized she could be successful. “I wanted to be in control of this and prove to myself that I cared enough to make healthy living a part of my life.”

Faith feels success is attainable with CaloriesCount.com because you can incorporate any foods, and it is not as demanding as other programs. “When I restrict things, all I think about is food. With CaloriesCount.com she has felt satisfied and unrestricted, as long as she counts her calories and keeps her food diary updated.

For Faith, the mental struggle was more than half the battle, yet CaloriesCount.com helped her succeed with that as well. The message boards and incredible support network kept her going on many days when she would have otherwise turned back. “Having these people cheer me on was great. I met Cheryl on this program and through daily emails we have learned together and kept each other motivated. I know I’m not in this alone.”

Although Faith began her journey with extra weight, as well as an ankle injury, she knew exercise would be an integral part of the program. Once her ankle healed, she began walking one mile a day, and tried to be as active as her body could handle. By allowing her body to adjust, Faith has steadily increased her activity and now does three to five cardio workouts a week at her local YMCA, and has added weight lifting to her workouts two days a week. “I have developed a love for exercise. I love the feeling I get after a workout – stronger, accomplished and healthier.”

During her membership with CaloriesCount.com, Faith not only lost the weight, but she also gained confidence and a positive outlook on life. “When I gained all that weight I wouldn’t leave the house because I was so self-conscious. I didn’t want others to see me.” However, Faith’s success has allowed her to feel better about herself and overcome that anxiety. She has also learned how to take a big challenge and break it down into smaller steps in order to get through it. It worked for weight loss, and also works in her home life and at work.

Faith feels her CaloriesCount.com peers were an integral part of her success and offers advice for those still on their way. “When you screw up, don’t let it ruin the rest of your week. Just pick up where you left off and keep going. And don’t forget to take a before picture. You may hate pictures now, but you’ll want that picture later. Just don’t give up, whatever you do!”

Faith advises that patience and persistence are what will keep you going for the long haul, and her own persistence is to be commended and admired!
